"Bugs in the Code," currently on view at Arch Enemy Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, presents nine new works by Michael Koehler that mark a major shift in his artistic practice. Moving beyond his earlier portraiture, Koehler constructs layered, multi-dimensional landscapes from cut and stacked wood panels, creating scenes that merge urban, natural, and digital environments. Using inset spaces and framing devices, the paintings evoke the sensation of navigating multiple realities at once.

Inspired by daily walks through the city alongside the endless pull of online life, Koehler explores the tension between physical experience and virtual immersion. His electric, contemporary palette heightens the feeling of digital disruption that permeates modern existence.

Born in Pittsburgh in 1983, Koehler is a self-taught painter whose background in graphic design and screen printing continues to shape his inventive approach to materials and composition. "Bugs in the Code" reflects his ongoing commitment to experimentation, risk-taking, and artistic evolution.
