Bridging a background in aerospace engineering with early artistic training in Paris and a childhood split between Kenya and France, Matthieu's paintings bridge hyperreal precision with an ecological and societal critique. By depicting childhood fauna as manufactured objects, his canvases investigate personal memory, time, and environmental anxiety, that encourages a critical reflection on artifice and conservation.
