Lingrou Xie

Wednesday, January 21, 2026

Lingrou Xie’s paintings evoke the feeling of double exposure, where parallel timelines blur and memory fractures. Soft, shifting backgrounds resemble fleeting film negatives, leaving ghostlike afterimages that suggest moments half-remembered.

Working with muted, low-saturation tones—ochres, deep blues, greens, and purples—she creates a quiet atmosphere of stillness and nostalgia. Her layered compositions often include frames within frames, acting as windows into fragmented recollections.

While her work echoes Surrealism’s interest in the subconscious, Xie’s distinct visual language reimagines time, memory, and identity as fluid, overlapping experiences.

Xie lives and works in Zhanjiang, Guangdong, China.
