Kremena Chipilova's "Bird Keepers"

On view until February 22nd, 2026.

Currently on view at Beinart Gallery in Melbourne, Australia until February 22nd, 2026 is artist Kremena Shipilova's solo exhibition, "Bird Keepers."

Kremena Chipilova is an award-winning contemporary oil painter born in Bulgaria and currently living and working in Finland. Known for her fantasy art and magical realism, her paintings suggest encounters with the supernatural and the unknown. Her figures (often women with wide-eyed gazes) possess an unknowable quality, striking a balance between eerie intensity and ethereal softness. Drawing inspiration from nature, folklore, myths, and fairy tales, Chipilova channels personal experience and literary influence into evocative and disquiet imagery.

In Bird Keepers, Kremena Chipilova presents a series of oil portraits connected by birds as a recurring symbol, embodying different meanings across the works, at times real, at times imagined.
