Currently on view until November 23rd, 2025 at Backwoods Gallery in Melbourne, Australia is artist David 'Meggs' Hooke's exceptional solo exhibition of delightful, beautiful new paintings: "Finding Flow."

Of the exhibition, Dave writes: "'Flow' is a state of consciousness in which action and awareness merge, time dilates, and we can achieve goals at a high and fulfilling level. It is the 'zone' where creativity moves effortlessly and freely through us, into our practice, forming an ideal and joyous state of being.

These works manifested from time spent exploring coastal landscapes, chasing waves and watching the sky change. Life is always in a state of change, growth and decay, and my process has become a more intimate observation of these fluctuations. I have enjoyed capturing observations and evidence of how energy and time manifest themselves in our environment through both serenity and chaos, and interpreting them through my visual language.

The creation of this work is therapeutic in itself, and my goal is to visually capture the conversation between serenity and chaos to understand personal fulfillment and harmony in life better. Externally, I hope that these artworks inspire similar feelings of positivity, movement, and connection in others, which, in some way, can contribute to the greater need for peace and self-awareness at a time when it is necessary to counter prejudice and division."
