Born in 1979 in Aichi, Japan, Jun Oson began his career as an illustrator in 2005, developing his distinctive highly-stylized characters influenced by manga, animation, and Western art — Blending cultural aesthetics to create a unique, borderless visual language. Oson’s colorful worlds—populated by diverse people, robots, and fantastical creatures—reflect his deep commitment to themes of identity and inclusivity. His evolution from illustrator to fine artist became clear through solo exhibitions such as Share Land (Beijing, 2019) and DISTANCE (Diesel Art Gallery, Tokyo, 2020), where he introduced layered and sculptural works that expanded his creative vocabulary. Today, Jun Oson’s art resonates far beyond Japan, celebrated for its vibrant energy, cross-cultural sensibility, and humanistic depth.
