BIO
Alex Garant, known as the “Queen of Double Eyes,” is a Canadian contemporary figurative artist celebrated for her mesmerizing optical portraits. After studying visual arts at Notre-Dame–De-Foy College near Quebec City, she settled in Toronto and began developing her distinctive style. A life-changing heart attack in 2012 pushed her to fully commit to her art, giving her work a new depth and urgency.
Pioneering what she calls “Analogue Glitch Art,” Garant fuses traditional oil portraiture with graphic patterns, symmetry, and duplication to create visually disorienting yet deeply human images. Her work explores identity and perception, reflecting the tension between inner self and outward appearance.
Represented internationally, her paintings have appeared in major museums including MOAH in California and the Honolulu Museum of Art. Featured in Hi-Fructose, Juxtapoz, and Beautiful Bizarre, Garant’s collaborations with MARVEL, Penguin Random House, and Universal Music showcase her broad creative influence.
