Wallace Woo

Hong Kong-born, Paris-based artist Wallace Woo recently concluded a significant solo exhibition in Paris that introduced his concept of Geological Abstractionism, a practice shaped by nearly two decades of disciplined experimentation. Rather than emphasizing gesture, speed, or personal expression, Woo embraces time, gravity, and natural processes as active participants in the creation of his paintings. Built through layers that accumulate over months, his works resemble geological formations, recording the passage of time rather than a single artistic statement.

Rooted in Eastern philosophy and an idea Woo describes as "Inner Geology," his work proposes a contemplative alternative to contemporary culture's fixation on speed and constant stimulation. A centerpiece of the exhibition, the Chamber of Silence, invited visitors into a space of reflection and stillness, encouraging a deeper engagement with both art and self. Through this evolving body of work, Woo has established a distinctive artistic vision that bridges contemporary abstraction, natural processes, and meditative inquiry, earning growing attention from audiences across Europe and beyond.
