Opening on Friday, March 13th at Medicine Man Gallery in Tucson, Arizona is artist Thomas Blackshears II's solo exhibition, "Neon Cowboy Posse: Ten Most Wanted Plus One."
Thomas Blackshear II is an acclaimed American artist who graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago in 1977 and later apprenticed under renowned illustrator Mark English. After early work at Hallmark and Godbold/Richter Studio, he became a freelance illustrator in 1982.
Known for dramatic lighting and emotional depth, Blackshear has created work for major clients including Disney, George Lucas Studios, and National Geographic. He has illustrated over thirty U.S. postage stamps and developed the bestselling Ebony Visions collectible line. His work has earned numerous awards and is held in museum collections, including the Museum of Biblical Art and the Booth Western Art Museum.
Since 1992, Medicine Man Gallery in Tucson, Arizona, has provided discerning collectors with the finest examples of antique and contemporary Native American art and fine Western art. The gallery specializes in the lifework of western artist Maynard Dixon (1875-1946), the Taos and Santa Fe artists colonies, and paintings and sculptures by renowned contemporary southwestern artists.
