Soslan Sosiev
Soslan Sosiev’s work explores the mythologically existential dimensions of our childhoods, blending familiar human figures with skewed and distorted environments with dramatically unnatural accoutrements.
Rather than idealizing childhood as a state of innocence, Sosiev presents it as a fragile, unpredictable world filled with vulnerability, intuition, and raw potential. His young figures appear fragile yet fiercely brave in the face of strangeness, embodying a formative and personal inner landscape derived from Sosiev's own influences. Through these creeping and enigmatic scenes, Sosiev considers the remains of childhood within us as we grow older, what we leave behind, and whether the imagination can reconnect us with parts of ourselves we have lost.
