Narciso Espiritu is a Filipino-American artist, illustrator, and educator whose vibrant practice spans editorial illustration, advertising, comics, posters, and design. Born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, Espiritu creates kinetic, colorful imagery with an energetic edge that can veer into the menacing and surreal. He is the founder and former editor of Instigatorzine, an independent art and literature magazine he led for five years, and his professional design experience includes work for major entertainment properties such as Marvel, DC, Rick and Morty, Dragon Ball Z, and The Legend of Zelda. Since 2020, Espiritu has taught illustration at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, where he developed a two-part Comics Storytelling course. His clients include The Atlantic, NPR, BUST Magazine, and Science Friday. Alongside teaching and freelance work, he continues to develop original comics and expand his multifaceted illustration practice.
