BIO
Mike Ryczek (b. 1984) is a Massachusetts-based painter whose evocative works balance realism and abstraction to explore the fragile nature of memory, perception, and identity. Beginning with photographic references, he deliberately reshapes and distills his source material into imagined environments that feel both familiar and psychologically charged. His layered paintings evoke nostalgia, existential reflection, and the shifting nature of human experience, transforming ordinary scenes into emotionally resonant spaces. A graduate of Montserrat College of Art, Ryczek has exhibited widely throughout the United States and has received recognition including a 2022 Massachusetts Cultural Council Painting Fellowship and finalist honors for the 2026 Prisma Art Prize.
