On view until September 5th, 2026.

A selection of works from artist Chris Leib's solo exhibition currently on view at Brassworks Gallery in Portland, Oregon until September 5th, 2026.
Best known for meticulously rendered images of bonobos, astronauts, and cosmonauts, Leib creates unexpected encounters between evolutionary history, human ambition, and imagined futures. His work moves beyond whimsy to consider heroism, scientific progress, spirituality, and the fragile hopes that shape our visions of tomorrow. Born in the San Francisco Bay Area, Leib studied anthropology at UC Berkeley before pursuing art at the Academy of Art in San Francisco and apprenticing with portrait painter Roberto Lupetti. He now divides his time between California and Berlin. Leib has exhibited internationally and received grants from the George Sugarman Foundation and San Francisco Arts Commission. He has also twice served as an artist in residence at the de Young Museum in San Francisco.
