Opening Saturday, September 6th.
"Technique, composition, color and paint handling—they all say something even if we don’t intend them to. That’s ok, and even fun. But the more I can get to the heart of it, the more I can simplify a painting into just the parts I find indispensable, the essence. Those fundamentals become just tools in service of a vision."
- Brett Allen Johnson
TWO WORLDS continues Johnson’s exploration of Southwestern landscapes and the man-made structures encountered in his travels. Though rooted in life, his works go beyond direct representation — distilling each scene to its core while capturing the essence and spirit of the natural world.
When asked about his decision to work on a larger scale for this exhibition, Johnson explained that it felt like the right time and that he was able to clearly envision the pieces after visiting Maxwell Alexander's new Pasadena gallery.
Work will be sold by drawing. Please contact the gallery for more details.
