Asif Hoque - Born in 1991, Rome, Italy - is a Brooklyn-based painter whose work weaves together myth, heritage, and art history. Born to Bangladeshi parents and raised between Rome and South Florida, Hoque blends classical Western and South Asian influences to create radiant narratives of love, triumph, and belonging. His paintings—filled with fantastical creatures, Brown figures, and golden landscapes—celebrate cultural hybridity and a divine, visual joy. Using a palette of rich golds and greens, he explores light as both a physical and symbolic force, connecting to his Bengali heritage where gold signifies birth and renewal. Hoque’s work has been exhibited internationally, including at Taymour Grahne Projects (London), Almine Rech Gallery (Brussels), and Mindy Solomon Gallery (Miami), and is held in the collections of the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, and the Xiao Hui Wang Art Museum, China. He studied at Pratt Institute and Hunter College.
