On Saturday, February 21st, downtown Los Angeles’ Corey Helford Gallery (CHG) will proudly unveil a new solo show from Los Angeles-based figurative surrealist painter Adrian Cox, titled The Well of Dreams, in the Main Gallery.

The studio practice for the Los Angeles-based visual artist and compelling storyteller involves crafting an intricate and epic mythology with his paintings, in which he explores questions of identity, spirituality, and our relationship with the natural world. In creating his work, Cox draws inspiration from art history, science fiction, mythic archetypes, and his own experience of growing up in a closeted queer family. Featuring over twenty new works, The Well of Dreams marks Cox’s fifth solo exhibition at CHG.

In conjunction with Cox’s new exhibit, CHG invites the public to a creative wellness event and live performance by Cox, titled The Ritual of Unknowing: A Surrealist Meditation Experience, taking place on Saturday, March 7th from 2-3 pm. This one-hour, in-person, free event at the gallery blends surrealist art, ambient sound, and guided meditation to lead participants into their imagination and inner creative world. Developed during a period of creative burnout, the ritual grew out of Cox’s personal wellness practice and became a way for him to reconnect with his artistic voice. Guests are encouraged to attend and participate by bringing a yoga mat and pillow for this immersive audio-visual experience designed to inspire reflection, stillness, and creativity.
